My First Old Hat

Last night I put on my best vintage gears (1940s cloche hat and 1940s peplum set) and marched into Hinky Dinks for my first Old Hat meetup. Old Hat is a Sydney-based vintage group that I discovered about a month ago, and I realised the some of the members are actually fellow bloggers I have been stalking for a while. It was such a pleasure to finally meet these gorgeous ladies and gents last night, they are definitely a lovely bunch and if you have thought about going to one of their meetups you totally should!

What I also discovered is I’m one of the oldest gal in the group (can’t believe how young every one is). Tim’s eyes almost popped out when I said I moved to Australia for uni 10 years ago (his brain must’ve sent out some distressed signals - “you’re talking to an old lady!”). I’m joking, every one is surprisingly mature (or me immature) and we had the best conversations. What Old Hat aims to do is to break the stereotype that vintage groups often have. We’re not snobby, we won’t judge what you wear (admire yes, judge never!), and we like vintage as much as we like reproductions ahahahah :) I’ll definitely be going to next one in February, a post-Valentine’s day event called Vintage Velvet Valentine… you gotta admit that sounds super exciting!
